This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are certificate bound Special Education students working within a traditional compulsory high school. They are transition aged, 18-21. Many are coded Autism, as well as Intellectual Disability, under ID, we have Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Other Health Impairments.
My Project
These materials and games will make a significant impact on the SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) and educational progress of my special needs students. The items have a heavy focus on everyday life skills, practical math and FUN!
In this new era of COVID online learning, it has become increasingly evident that the children in self-contained special education programs are suffering learning losses, isolation and a void of peer emotional interaction.
I feel confident that adding exciting activities and games to my teaching routines in the Fall will help my students thrive in the coming months.
