Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students face many challenges in a given day. We try to help them by providing activities that are appropriate for each individual. We do not have enough materials or supplies to help most of them, so we do as much as we can with what is given to us. I am currently trying to purchase a Kinect devise that connects to the computer, so it could help my wheelchair students feel much like our other students when working with dancing activities. This is not only a devise that moves with the student, but helps them in providing some kind of therapy for does in need.

Our students are in a Special Education classroom called Life Skills.

We teach hands on activities and teach them living skills. Some students are able to do most of the work without a one to one assistance and others need all the help they can get. We have severely and profound students who are capable of only working on listening skills and touch toys. Our students are very special and most of them comprehend what they see.

My Project

The activity we are trying to purchase is the Kinect devise that will help our students feel successful in class. We currently do not have activities for Recreation and Leisure that our students can benefit. If we get the Kinect devise for the computer, the students can utilize it and see themselves on the screen making all the movements the devise offers. This is a good therapy for our severely and profound students in a wheel chair.

My project is important, because it will help improve our way of teaching, all the different disabilities in our Life Skills class.

This will empower our students to feel that they can do anything if they set their mind to it.
