Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine trying to learn about your body and only have a book to learn from.

Most of the students are Hispanic.

They live in apartments with many family members. They share their bedroom if they have one and some sleep in the living room. The students are willing to learn but they need a lot of visuals or realia to help with the language barrier. Our school is a title one school and 97% of the students receive free lunch.

My Project

The models I am requesting will help the students see all the organs we have in our body. Students will learn how blood circulates through the heart chambers, lungs, and body and how carbon dioxide (CO2) and oxygen (O2) are exchanged in the lungs and tissues. Students will learn the sequential steps of digestion and the roles of teeth and the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, and colon in the function of the digestive system.

This project is important because it will help the students learn using the model and they will do better on the district and state test.

We need these models to help with the language barrier.
