Life of a Butterfly

My students need the Butterfly Pavilion to watch the butterfly life cycle in real time and the laminator will help us create a classroom library butterfly section of our obsevations and new found knowledge.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My student come from central Stockton, CA. Most start out at the Homeless Shelter, than work their way up to permanent housing. As teachers, we do our best to keep our students at grade level or help them catch up. We work to provide clothing, healthy meals and counseling to get them through the tough times. Many suffer from multiple issues that make focusing on learning a real challenge.

We are a part of their life long learning experience no matter how long they are with us.

Our goal is to make love of learning one of their goals too.

My Project

I am teaching 4 grades, so my students range immensely in age and learning modalities. Watching a real butterfly go through it's life cycle makes learning a part of life, not just pictures in a book. Literacy resources add to the experience creating more knowledge. Not every student is going to remember every lesson, but by learning through reading, writing, observation and art, everyone will learn something. Some students stay multiple years before going back to their neighborhood school, others are with us for a few short months. My goal is to give them something to learn and add to their life long learning adventure.
