My Project

My students are hardworking high school students, many of whom are also taking college classes. They are working their way towards an associates degree at the same time as they move toward earning a high school diploma. Many of my economics’ lessons involve the students researching careers they're planning to go into or four-year colleges they would like to attend to continue their education. Having laptops in class would allow them access to the internet in class and make research that much easier for them.

I'm planning to have them work on budgets that would represent their income and money spent in their adult life.

They would be able to determine how much they would make a month with their chosen career, see what sorts of bills they would have to pay, and then figure out what things they could afford to fit their adult lifestyle with money left over. This would help them get a realistic idea of what to expect in the near future.
