My Project

I work with high school MID (mild intellectual disability) student and we have started a economy class where the students have classroom jobs, they apply for positions, they maintain weekly time sheets, they receive a biweekly paycheck, they are responsible for paying their monthly desk rental, desk insurance, and once all of their desk rental, insurance and fines are paid they can enjoy shopping in our classroom shopping experience. This project helps our students recognize how the financial world works. It teaches work skills, how to count money, budgeting, banking and so much more. It’s not about the disability but the ability.
