This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a high needs and low-income area. Kindergarten is the first time that many of my students step into a school and a classroom. This is the first time they are learning and making new friends. They come into school excited and eager to learn no matter the challenges that they face every day.

My Project

My students come from a high needs and low-income area. Kindergarten is the first time that many of my students step into a school and a classroom, especially after this year, where some students have not stepped into a building since March 2020. This is the first time they are learning and making new friends. They come into school excited and eager to learn no matter the challenges that they face every day.

Starting in kindergarten can be extremely overwhelming for the students and their families.

This school year is going to be extremely difficult for our students, who may have been home for over a year. There will be a lot of learning that will need to take place in order to get our students back where they need to be. I want my students to start off the year with fresh folders, pencil cases, and supplies that will be able to still keep them safe in the classroom.
