My Students

My students are 2nd and 3rd grade students from New York City in a Special Education class. They are hard working, happy students. My students come from low-income families and need every advantage they can get. They face many challenges outside of school, but they work hard in school to succeed.

They have the smarts and the motivation to be the best; let's give them the materials.

I want to ensure my students have all the necessary tools to compete in our challenging world.

My Project

Let's talk about the tiny elephant in the room.....LICE! They are common in classrooms, making themselves at home right on my students' pretty little heads.

They are annoying and very expensive to treat.

Students are allowed to stay in school with eggs/nits in their hair. Once the lice are live and crawling, the students are sent home for treatment. Our families don't always have the means to properly get rid of the lice so in no time they return.

Please help us keep lice away. There have been several outbreaks in my room this year. Children often spread it to classmates and siblings so it can easily get out of control. This project includes treatment kits, shampoo and conditioner that should keep their hair clean and free of lice. If we have the needed products available, families can be sent home with enough to treat the whole family and decrease re-infestation.
