Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The school I teach at is an inner city school. Students from my school are from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and ethnicities. Students from my school are from low income households, with many of them having a single parent.

These student-athletes are hard working members of the school community.

Many of them travel from great distances, and are still able to succeed in the classroom, as well as athletics. These kids deserve every opportunity to succeed as the students from middle to upper class communities do.

My Project

The LIC High School Football Program needs equipment for the 2017/2018 school year. A high school football program is very expensive to run, and NYC schools have trouble providing the necessary funds that it takes to run a successful program. To keep our football program growing, we need to fundraise and rely on the very generous donations of others.

Game footballs are a necessity for any football team.

These footballs will be of great help during our spring practices and for the passing tournaments that we enter during the summer. Helping us acquire these footballs will also allow us to purchase new helmets that we desperately need after many of our older helmets failed the reconditioning tests.

The LIC Football program has been growing, and making a positive impact on these student's lives. Following this past season we were able to send 3 student-athletes to college by way of football. We are looking to increase that number every year with increased student participation. We are so grateful to anyone that is willing to help these kids out!
