Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our school has a growing number of Spanish speaking students each year and they are in need of bilingual books that not only help them learn English, but also makes them feel at home. Providing students with books in their native tongue will allow them to continue to build their reading abilities while they learn English. I would like to add the books to our small, but growing bilingual library collection.

I work in a small district with only 1 ESOL teacher who works with students at all 7 schools.

This leaves most students without the support they need to learn English. With these resources students can read books in their native tongue and learn English.

Our students are all special, but our Spanish speaking students always stand out to me. They do their best to follow along and participate.
