A typical day in our library is very busy! Not only are students checking in and out books to read for pleasure, but they are completing research, they are attending classes and book clubs. They are setting goals and achieving them everyday!
My students love to read and they love to visit the library!
They are eager to check out new books as often as they are able.
Our elementary school is located in a very rural area that focuses on farming. Our school is a low income, Title I school. There is no public library so this is it for a lot of our students. Our students are caring and value their education.
My Project
Students will be able to complete library research with a new pencil sharpener. After completing a search for books on the computer the students need pencils to write down the call number to locate the books they need. They also need pencils to complete library and classroom assignments.
My fourth and fifth grade students participate in book clubs and this set of books is needed for the clubs. This set of books in particular adds multi-cultural education into the library curriculum as well as history on our home state.
A book cart is desperately needed in our media center for quick re-shelving of books. My students love to read and make many visits to the media center. Books that need to be re-shelved pile up quickly and this cart will aid in providing a quick trip back to the shelf for check out.
This project will make a huge difference in the everyday flow of the media center.
Students will have a pencil sharpener for media center projects and research. The book cart will allow books to be quickly re-shelved for students to re-check them out. The set of books will be for my fourth and fifth grade book clubs.
