This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Students of all ages love to be read a story. The excitement in the young students eyes, the concentration and interest expressed by the older students are priceless moments in my Library. I currently have an old chair that is falling apart and would love to add this beautiful rocker to my Library.
My students range in age from 4 to 12.
My school is a Title I school. The students come from diverse backgrounds and socio-economic households. Many are low readers and most of my older students have very poor library skills such as research and technology skills.
My Project
The materials I have requested will be used to enhace research skills for my upper elementary students. The notebook paper, highlighters, and markers will be used for taking notes, locating information in text, and creating projects. The books will be added to my lower elementary inventory and the rocker I will use for story time with students.
Being that I am a librarian, supplies for students have to be bought using library funds.
Having the supplies requested will enable me to teach students research skills that they can carry with them in future educational endeavors. The rocking chair will create a warm atmosphere for story time.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
