This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being in a Special Education Teacher in the inner-city, my students struggle with everyday life. All my students have a story and deal with issues kids shouldn't have to deal with. Still, they come to school and try their best, which is what makes my students so special.

All my students are unique, but one thing they all have in common is their love for reading.

We want to give all the students the opportunity to choose from a variety of books and be comfortable while doing so.

My Project

I teach in an inner-city school located in the Bronx, NY. All my students have a story and deal with issues kids shouldn't have to deal with. Still, they come to school and try their best. They have grown to love the library and flexible seating to help engage their learning. However, there is not enough flexible seating or space for students to enjoy.

The following materials will give our students the opportunity to escape their reality and get lost in their books.

This bench will not only give students an area to read, but it will also act as additional storage space for books. These bins will also allow more books to be added to our library.
