My Students

My wonderful class is filled with a diverse group of students. I have kids from different countries that grew up in different environments. Some of their stories were so heartbreaking that it makes it hard to hold back my tears, but I admire their strength. This motivates me to create a warm and caring environment where students can feel safe and wanted. Where they feel like they are loved by their “school family” and they want to grow as learners.

In order to accomplish this goal, I start off the year by making them love their learning environment.

I work in a Title 1 school with limited resources, where most of our students come from a low-income household. Most of the things I have in my classroom was purchased with my own money. I have been spending 100’s of dollars every year and I never regret it. I would still do it for as long as I can, but I’m realizing that my students need more than I could provide.

My Project

I am requesting a mobile storage cart where my students can put their individual book bins. Our classroom is pretty small compared to other rooms. We don’t have any cabinets to put away our supplies nor do we have a closet. This means that we have to use several plastic bins and bookshelves in order to keep things organized. This thin mobile book cart is perfect in our small classroom.

It will also help us declutter our classroom and make it easier for our young leaders to access their book bins.
