Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I’m a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district. My students come from diverse backgrounds and are faced with several challenges in their young lives. I am looking forward to creating a loving classroom community that will provide a safe and meaningful learning experience.

Organization and comfort are very important in order to create a nurturing environment.

In our current school community there is not much comfort or organization on the streets. My students need a place where they can feel comfortable so they can be ready to learn. They also need a place where all school items are organized and clear to see. Like my students like to say, “Out of sight, out of mind.” This is why this school year I want to provide the coziest, best organized classroom I can to help my students feel at ease and ready to learn.

My Project

Unfortunately, we do not have book cases inside our dual language classroom. Our books are not organized by reading levels because we do not have shelves to organize them on. We are also looking forward to create our own writing center in our classroom.

In order to promote reading and writing, I would like to create a bilingual library center and writing center for my students.

These book cases will help us organize our books by reading level and separate our English and Spanish books. The other storage shelf will help us organize our writing supplies. My students will be able to have their books and writing tools in sight!
