Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My current classroom rug is very small and doesn’t fit many students who want to read there. That’s why I am looking for a new rug addition to my library space. Another use of my library space is as a calming or cool down corner. I don’t have a designated space for a calming corner in my classroom and I see that this is a natural space that students already gravitate toward.

It makes sense that these two areas would be combined to give my students a library and calm down area.

Most importantly many students will benefit from these resources for many years to come. I plant to use the LED light, plushies, sensory pillow cases, and toys to calm students with varying needs. The addition of the emotions posters will also be a way for students to reflect on how they are feeling.
