My Project
This year I'm moving to a new school with very few resources available. I will be teaching Civics / Contemporary World Issues to seniors. My plan for the semester is to teach them the importance of civic engagement through a semester long simulation where they will be participating in the democratic process in a variety of ways.
Too often, seniors are leaving high school without the knowledge they need to be engaged and informed voters.
I plan to combat the all too common "senior-itis" and engage them in civics by simulating things like running for office, proposing new legislation, voting, ruling over cases, etc.
These materials are some of the basic necessities needed for my classroom to function. The binders are important because that is where they will hold their group work.
