Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher who helps run my schools GSA. I am looking to create a LGBTQ+/language inclusive library for my students to browse and borrow books from.

With these books, I will start an independent reading routine in my class and give my LGBT students reading options that reflect their identities and my ESL students books for them to enjoy in their native language.

I am confident giving my students books that represent them will spark joy for reading and learning. Students who may not be able to seek out books that reflect their identities outside of school will get that opportunity in my classroom. These books will support my students' academic skills as well as their social-emotional well-being.
