My Students

My students are a caring, sensitive, and thoughtful group of children, who have struggled to meet the demands of school for various reasons outside of their control.

Students feel frustrated and are more likely to give up when they struggle to understand the information required to complete a task.

This is especially true when it is 3 or more grade levels beyond their reach. Technology provides an access point for children to learn about more complex subject matter despite their educational difficulties.

5th grade is a year filled with many developmental and social changes. The work is significantly more challenging and it can be a turning point for students that do not feel successful.

My Project

The Chromebooks will be used to differentiate learning in a multi-grade classroom. Many lessons include components where students are split into smaller groups. Through your contributions, my students will gain the opportunity to be engaged in personalized learning tasks on programs such as I-ready. Learners will be able to utilize tools such as Read & Write to journal and answer questions.

Teacher time is essential, but your donation of the Chromebooks will promote autonomy, independent learning, and build technical skills when they are working on their own!

The young leaders in my class are ready to take on the world! They come to class every day at a Title 1 public school in the Bronx and stand in the face of adversity. In addition to strengthening their literacy and math skills, the students deserve to develop their ability to navigate technology fluidly, which is essential for building 21st-century skills.
