Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Year after year our teachers have noticed an increase in student’s needs socially, emotionally, and functionally. Currently, I work closely with our special education teachers to ensure all students with disabilities in our school building are receiving the services and supports they need. I’ve noticed our special education teachers and students lack materials in the area of social and emotional learning. This project is towards materials for our school’s first ever social and emotional learning resource room. We have been fortunate to make space within our building to house materials to support our students with disabilities Compared to their same-aged peers, students with disabilities frequently require additional resources, such as visuals, hands-on activities, and alternative learning methods to truly grasp and learn new skill, including social and emotional skills. So, your donation towards these materials, such as social skills books, posters, fidgets, and physical calming activates will support our exceptional education teachers’ in building their teacher toolbox and truly leveling up their students in becoming their greater selves this school year!

The donations towards this project will support students with disabilities in their social-emotional and functional needs, targeting their individual needs so that they are able to have a successful academic school year.

With these items, our teachers will be able to support our students in managing emotions, achieving personal goals, showing empathy for others, establishing and maintaining supportive peer relationships, and making caring decisions. With the social stories, teachers will be able to conduct social skills instruction using vibrant and engaging stories. With the visuals and timers, students will be able to use concrete information to self-regulate their emotions and apply skills they are learning. The goal for this project is for our students with disabilities across all grade levels to grow into academically, emotionally, and socially confident humans.
