My Students

I'm thrilled to announce that I will be moving to a Fourth Grade position next year at DHES. DHES is a culturally diverse and vibrant community that reflects the changes in the neighborhood over the past few years. The school is tight-knit, with a deep commitment to community. After a tumultuous and unpredictable year, I am so looking forward to providing a safe, nurturing space where students feel seen, held, and taken care of.

I'm so excited and deeply humbled by the opportunity to work with such a special group of students in this critical moment.

But, as is common in many public schools, and particularly in LAUSD, much of the funding and resources must come from teachers, families, and community members. Since many of my students come from low-income or middle class households, I am hoping you will look over the project I've put together and donate what you can. My dream is to provide my students with grade-level appropriate chapter books that reflect their diverse backgrounds, instill the belief that they can change the world, and a help them develop a lifelong love of learning.

My Project

During small group rotations, my students will have the opportunity to read independently at their own grade level. I want them to have a wide range of books that are just right for them -- not too challenging, and not too easy!

A leveled library with books ranging from 3rd-6th grade will allow my students both room to grow their literacy, and the opportunity to choose content that piques their interests.

Students will also engage in research projects throughout the year, and having a solid non-fiction selection will allow them to delve deeply into various topics.
