My Students

Hello! I teach an exciting group of 28 second grade students at a charter school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Our school is a Title I school where 100% of our students are offered free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students face a lot of challenges both in and out of school. Many students come from low-income backgrounds, are English Language Learners, and/or have been through traumatic events.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Within this profession I have learned the true meaning of unconditional love. I have learned how to meet the needs of my students to ensure that each and every student feels welcomed and loved within my classroom and our school!

My Project

The materials I am requesting will directly impact my students' learning on a daily basis. The bins and leveled books will be used to organize our classroom library and guided reading station according to reading levels.

Our school has been completely virtual since March 2020.

We are hoping to begin our 2021 school year back in person. With that in mind, many students have faced challenges day in and day out.

I am in need of books to support my emergent readers within my second-grade class. This project will provide the students with an opportunity to choose a book of their interest on their "just right" independent reading level.
