Help me give my students leveled nonfiction books to expand our classroom library.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Huff's classroom raised $452
This project is fully funded
My Students
My class of kindergarteners is a fun group, who are eager to learn! They attend school in a large district outside of Denver, Colorado. It is a Title I school, which means that there is a high percentage of students from low-income families. There are about 600 students in the kindergarten through 8th grade building, and over 85% of the elementary school children qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Despite the struggles that many students face outside of the classroom, my students are excited to come to school and ready to learn!
My Project
My students will be using these nonfiction books to explore and learn about the world around them. In my classroom, we have beginning readers on different levels (typically A-C). As children begin to read, they need a lot of books.
Students will have the opportunity to choose what they want to read and learn about during our Discovery Reading time as well as during Reader’s Workshop.
Leveled nonfiction books will make the information students are reading more accessible. In order to keep learning and growing our reading skills, we need more books! This project will help support my students as they embark on their life long reading journey.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
