My Students

My class is made up of students with special needs. The class consists of students across three grades; Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade. This a brand new classroom. I haven’t met my students yet, but I want to create a classroom where they will all feel loved and cared about. As their teacher, my hope for them is that I can help foster a love for reading every day that will last a lifetime.

I want my students to become life-long readers, who can use their gifts to follow their dreams.

My Project

This is a new classroom and I will be starting with very little in my library. The purpose of this project is to increase the variety of books in our personal classroom library. The students are expected to read independently each day. Having the ability to choose which books they are able to read drastically increases their interest! A leveled library will help me put books in the hands of my students that they will be able to read. This will help them build their literacy skills, fluency, and enhance their love of reading. We need more choices of books so they can read what they love and make their learning even more powerful.
