My Students

I'm thrilled to announce that I will be following my brilliant and dynamic Kindergarteners to First Grade next year! My class is a very culturally diverse and vibrant community that reflects the dramatic changes our LAUSD school has made over the past few years. The school is dual-immersion, which means that I have two groups of 24 First Graders (that's 48 total!) who will be learning in English for half the day (with me!) and in Spanish for the other half.

I'm so excited and deeply humbled by the opportunity to work with this special group of students again.

But, as is common in many public schools, and particularly in LAUSD, much of the funding and resources must come from teachers, families, and community members. Since many of my students come from low-income or middle class households, I am hoping you will look over the project I've put together and donate what you can. My dream is to provide my students with grade-level appropriate books that will spark their imagination, instill the belief that they can change the world, and a help them develop a lifelong love of

My Project

My students are eager to read at a just-right level. By providing them with an array of choices in their early literacy, they will stay engaged and motivated to grow as readers throughout the year.

The books I have selected range from K-1st grade levels to meet the needs of all students, with a particular emphasis on those students who are still developing foundational literacy skills.

My goal is to implement a weekly book-shopping rotation in which students can select just-right books for themselves, based on their interest in a book's theme as well as it's corresponding level. I also plan to continuously progress monitor students so that they can track their own growth as they shift from level to level in our guided reading leveled library.
