Leveled Books for Emerging Readers

My students need leveled books such as the Biscuit series and Step Into Reading leveled readers, as well as read-aloud books like Amelia Bedelia and the Magic Tree House.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom requires a ton of movement, pictures, manipulatives, hands-on learning, and as much book reading as possible! My goal by the end of the year is for every student to feel confident in the challenge of moving through their educational career.

I work with at-risk, low-income students.

Although they come from a rough upbringing, I completely admire every single one of them for coming to school with a smile on their face. We have become a family, so when someone is having a bad day, we commit ourselves to making their day a little brighter. As a teacher of this group, my job is not only to expand their brains, but also instill positive social skills, which we have to keep working on every day.

My Project

My classroom needs reading materials to feed their growth as beginning readers. I am an avid reader and believe that I have transferred that love to my students. They now have a small library to choose books from, but it is difficult to get them the books that are the necessary level with limited resources. This new set of leveled books would be a wonderful addition to their progress.

My students are always so proud of themselves when they pick up a book and find that they can make their way through it with limited help.

New books that are leveled to meet their needs would absolutely give them more confidence in reading and push them to read more.
