As a special education teacher, I know that not every student will learn in the same way as their peers. Unique learners have unique needs. Last year was a challenge for some of my students with a new curriculum from the district. Sadly, they didn't make as much progress as they are capable of. This year, many of those same students will return to me, so we have to try something new.
Math U See is a visual and hands-on way for students to master foundational mathematical skills.
At the end of last year, I received the two lowest levels. These will be perfect for my kinder and 1st graders. My 2nd graders will hopefully work through Alpha level quickly which includes place value, and single-digit addition and subtraction.
My 3rd graders will need an intro to Math U See as they learn the manipulatives. AIM is designed to help older students who have never used this program, memorize their basic addition and subtraction facts. This will help them with grade-level multiplication and division.
Finally, I need an external DVD player to show the lessons to the students as the school laptop doesn't have a DVD drive. The video lessons walk students through step by step on what they need to do. This will help me individualize the lessons.
