My students come from one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in Arkansas. Many come to us each day without having their most basic needs met: food, shelter, and safety. Our library is a safe place for all students.
My students know that if they need something, they can come to me and I'll make sure their needs are met, even if I have to run to the store and purchase it myself.
I want my students to always know that I'm going to help them any way I can.
Having an area where kids can come get what they need: a quick spray of deodorant after gym, a cough drop or bandaid, a safety pin or zip tie to.hold up pants that are too big. I know that when these needs are met, these students will be more likely to enter the classroom with a positive attitude, ready to learn. Help me level the playing field so all students can feel confident and cared for.
