My Students

"Tell me and I'll forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I'll understand." I want to make word work during guided reading and centers more involved and hands-on for my students. We need magnetic whiteboards and magnetic letters to help make learning about words more fun and exciting!

My classroom is made up of 28 eager, energetic, and hard-working second graders.

Our school is considered medium poverty with many students receiving free or reduced lunches. Even though our school and school district are going through some tough financial times, we have still managed to achieve the title of being an "Excellent" school. This shows the hard working attitude of our students and teachers! Our school is also in partnership with Sean Covey's "7 Habits of Happy Kids." We teach our students how to be leaders both in the classroom and in life!

My Project

Using these magnetic letters will help my students understand how words work. They will be able to build, take apart, and explore words using the magnetic letters. With these resources, each student in the guided reading group will be able to use their own whiteboard and letters to practice word work. Right now, we are currently trying to share one magnetic board and one set of letters. This doesn't involve my students as much as I'd like!

Your support of this project will help instill a love of literacy in my students.

It will help them build skills that they can apply in reading, writing, and spelling. These whiteboards and letters will give them opportunities to practice how words work in a fun and exciting way!
