Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our children are dreamers. They are eager and motivated to learn. They come from families who are hard-working, and they are teaching their children that same motivation for learning. Many of our families fall below the national poverty levels; some experiencing the situation of being homeless or are home insecure. In addition, English is a second language for the majority of our families or they are bilingual households.

Every child deserves a great start.

Our children deserve no less than great. Our children are getting ready for kindergarten, and it is our job to prepare them! Having the right materials and devices is a large part of preparing students for school success!

My Project

Due to Covid-19 many schools, including mine, have closed. I would love to provide my students with learning materials to keep them learning at home. We have a class page that I share ideas with parents but some ideas I would love to share will require materials. My families don't have these materials and they can't afford to buy them. I wish I could buy them for my students but I don't have the funds either.

The doors of school may be closed, but the learning does not have to end!

My families and students have shown me that they are not ready to let the learning stop. They are active participants on our class page and they share their own videos with me of the learning they are doing. I would like each student to have a set of magnetic letters to follow along with games and ideas I am sharing via our classroom page. I have many literacy games to share with students but they would really benefit from having a set of magnetic letters to use and play the games on their own. I also believe these materials would help parents that are trying to work from home, as it would give children an educational material to play with while parents are working. I would love your help in my student's continued successful education and in being prepared for Kindergarten.
