This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is a PK-6th, neighborhood school in Cincinnati. My school is a Title 1 school with 100% of the students receiving free/reduced lunch.
My students encounter many challenges in and outside of school, but they are hardworking and full of joy!
Currently my students are working remotely from their home or day care facility. They have been working hard to concentrate and do their best despite the challenges of background noise, distractions from home and an atypical way of learning.
John P. Parker has a Vision 2020 plan of Global Environmental Literacy (GEL) which integrates five components: Global Citizenship, Environmental Literacy, Health and Wellness, Service Learning and Digital Literacy. This project will add to their Global Citizenship learning and Health and Wellness.
My Project
I wanted to find a way to connect with my students through hand written notes, fun surprises or supplies from time to time since we are currently learning virtually.
People like to know they are thought of and valued and this project will allow me to reach out to my students in a small way.
Twice a week, I will mail out a letter with a small surprise (gift certificate, stickers, coloring sheet, lollipops or small prizes).
My hope is that every student will receive at least 5 letters and goodies throughout the year. And who knows, maybe they will even write back!
