Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a kindergarten teacher in a large elementary school. This coming school year my class is slotted for ESL (English as a second language). I am already planning activities that will encourage language acquisition. The puppets that I am requesting are adorable. They have big working mouths and movable hands that make it easy for children to retell their favorite fairy tales. These puppets will help the children develop oral language skills as they play! Even children that are reluctant to speak will find it easier to practice language skills when they are making the puppet talk. It is less intimidating. Not only will the puppets encourage language acquisition but they are great for self expression, story sequencing, and dramatic play. The mini puppet stage also adds a comfort zone for children. It allows the children to speak from behind a stage where they can't be seen. The stage can also double as a store encouraging more dramatic play. I am excited about the advancements my students can make by using these puppets.
