This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With these books, I intend my 5th grade students to improve their Science Spanish language skills as well as their Science knowledge.

I want to focus on improving curiosity about science in my classes where we use Spanish as a teaching language.

In general, I have very curious students about science and history topics. I get asked a lot of questions and I think having these types of books/encyclopedias is a good addition to our library. The topics that most attract their attention and that are also aligned with our curriculum are some such as the human body, space, food, or animals.

Also, it is essential for all students to have books at their independent reading levels to develop their Spanish literacy skills. I would like to build a classroom environment that helps close educational gaps and encourages my students to make strides toward growth. Having books they can read on their own builds confidence and allows my 5th graders to continue their journeys as lifelong readers.
