This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Motivating students to talk about their thinking can be a challenge, if you don't have the right tools!

As a teacher who serves many English Language Learners and struggling students in a Title I school in Brooklyn, New York I am always looking for ways to make learning fun so that my students will be highly engaged and eager to talk.

I believe that learning is a meaning making process that requires students to be actively involved and happy. Games do just that!

My Project

In order to get my students actively engaged and willing to talk about their mathematical thinking and reasoning I am asking that you support my project by providing my students with the right tools; specifically, 4 math games that they can play in small groups for about 20 minutes each week. Playing these specific games weekly will provide my students with the much needed opportunity to review basic skills in a non-stressful way which also requires them to explain their thinking, thus solidifying their learning.

By supporting this project you are supporting tomorrow's leaders with the opportunities they need to build academic skills, confidence, communication and cooperation.

These aspects are what will help to make the world a better place.
