Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher in an inclusion classroom. This will be my second year working with my students, first in 4th grade and now in fifth. I am looking forward to spending another year with them. They are very bright and hardworking children. They are very thoughtful and polite and love to volunteer to help each other and their teachers. They made so much progress last year and I cannot wait to see how much they grow this year. I know that they are capable of doing great things.

My Project

Half of my students in my class are currently below grade level in mathematics. They are lacking math fluency and the ability to explain their reasoning. This is making it difficult for them to acquire the fifth grade skills.

This fluency kit will make a huge impact on their math lives.

Number talks have been proven to improve children's math skills. This kit will be used daily as it has 180 days of math talks. The kit also includes manipulatives that will be valuable to the students.

Math is such an important part of every day life and I would love to give them the help they need to succeed!
