Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a wonderful school in the Bronx that is both an elementary and middle school with a large percentage of minorities. I am a fourth grade self-contained teacher who works with students who overcome challenges everyday, whether they are physical, emotional or academic. Remote learning was/is a struggle for most students but for my students with disabilities it is an additional challenge that is added to a list of struggles my students already face.

Throughout their remote learning experience, even though it was frustrating and difficult, they refused to give up.

My students showed up everyday whether it was through Google Meet or through telephone, to keep up with their learning. My students deserve to come back to a classroom that provides a safe place where they can learn.

My Project

Through the use of these materials I can make sure that when staying home is not an option, my students are coming to a safe, clean classroom where hygienic routines are common place.

We are starting a school year unlike any before and the health of my students and I are most important.

The students have not been back to school since March and in an area that has been hit hard by COVID-19, it is going to be uncomfortable and even scary. These items will add a little comfort to help us try to go back to what we do best...learning.
