My Students

My school is a Title 1 school, and 98% of my students receive free lunch. We are a 5th Grade inclusion classroom. My class is focused in building social skills and academic knowledge. My students are learning how to manage disagreements and learning how to build knowledge through academic discussions and learning ownership. We've come a long way to learn how to work together as a community of learners, and we are proud of our achievements. Even so, my students have limited life experiences. Most of them rarely leave our neighborhood, and I know how important it is for them to be exposed to diverse and different ways of thinking. These are kids who have so much potential, but they need positive venues for that energy. I witness everyday how proud they are when they accomplish classwork or help a classmate. Still, we can do better. I know that there is room to grow as learners and as members of our community.

My Project

This project will make a difference in learning by ensuring that every student is ready to take on the challenge of each day fully prepared with basic items like pens and notebooks. Many students don't have the supplies needed to assist them to reach their personal goals. We as teachers must make sure that their dreams can become a reality.

Let us not let school supplies be another problem parents must worry about also.

In my school, 98% of the population of the students receive free lunch. This will be one small step towards the success of all of my students and have all of them ready to move towards a lifetime of learning.
