This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How frustrating it can be to try to do your best with a dull or broken pencil point! My students rely on a classroom pencil sharpener which is not made to handle at least twenty pencils each morning. This sharpener shuts down due to overheating before all students have had a turn.

My students attend an inner-city bilingual public school.

They do not have the resources to purchase supplies for themselves and rely mostly on what the classroom or teachers provide for them to use. They are energetic and eager to learn provided they have the proper tools. Most of the students in my classroom are of Hispanic or African-American backgrounds.

My Project

The electric heavy-duty pencil sharpener I am requesting will be able to quickly sharpen pencils each day for my students without wasting valuable learning time. The students will be able to do their best work without worrying about dull or broken pencil points. My students will be able to focus their time while in my classroom on what truly is important--their studies.

This new pencil sharpener will eliminate wasted time and frustration with an old sharpener which could not handle the daily volume of sharpening pencils for all my students.

The students will be prepared to complete their schoolwork with writing tools which work properly.
