Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach High School World Studies in Illinois. My students are in the 9th grade and are mostly African-American and Hispanic. My students are all special needs students. They are LD, CD and EBD. All of them are low income.

My students have shown an interest in improving their map skills. We are studying countries around the world and they have had difficulty visualizing these places because we have no student atlas' or wall maps.

My class would benefit greatly if there was an atlas for each student and wall maps that would show landforms, physical features, country and state boundaries so that they can learn how to read maps, find out how maps and globes show information about the Earth's surface.

You will make it possible for my students to see the world from our classroom. With your help they will continue to explore the world and states around them.
