Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 3rd graders in an urban public school; 99.5% poverty which means my students have limited out-of-school experiences to help them grasp their science learning.

Our budget is limited so I can only demonstrate with the one Newton Demonstrator. This allows students to visualize the law of gravity but still they learn best by doing; so their grasp of the law of motion is still shallow. The demonstrator is small and it's difficult for 30 students to really see the science I'm trying to show them.

If each group of 2-3 students had their own Newtonian Demonstrator then they could learn by seeing better and even more important they could learn by doing. Students would be able to manipulate their machine to test various scenarios that they imagine to see if Newton's 3rd Law holds true. Learning would be more engaged and therefore more deeply learned.

Your generous donation would be helpful for my current students and each successive class. It is the best visual tool I know to help my students learn the laws of motion; and your help would allow students to experience this first hand.
