My Students

My students are mostly English Language Learners who come to this country with knowing little or no English. Most of their parents are immigrants and also have limited English communication ability. Even though they are facing challenges and obstacles like language barriers, social-emotional problems, etc., these kids always show up with a smile and ready to learn! We are an ICT class which incorporates students with varied abilities and special needs with general education peers in a nurturing, cooperative environment with two full time teachers. My students are all unique individuals who are always eager to participate in class lessons.

My students love to learn, especially through technology.

My Project

A Microsoft Surface Go and protective cover is a necessity in my room. Teaching in an ICT setting, I rely on a lot of small group instruction. The Surface Go will help me move from group to group easily while still being able to model the new skill being taught to them. This will give my special needs students a better chance at successfully engaging their fine motor skills to tap and swipe items. The stylus lets the students practice handwriting, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor tasks that would be missed if they solely relied on the finger touch and swiping option.
