My Students

We are a very busy small school library. We serve a high poverty, 100% free meals population. We always doing something in our little library! Most of our students are struggling readers. I believe every child can learn, and I try to provide things in the library that can support that idea.

I am always working to provide a caring and safe environment for all of our students.

I work very hard to make library time fun and interesting! We are a Title I school, and many of our students have very unstable family lives. Many of these children never go to a public library, for all kinds of reasons. Our ELL population many times may not know what a book is! I love to see our students get excited about reading!

My Project

We need a new, working book cart/truck for displaying checked in books for our students to find and check out. Our old cart won't roll, so I can't turn it around, and even my big 6th grade helpers can't manage it either! We need a new one that will actually roll easily. Our has also been painted many times, is peeling and is missing some parts. It's unstable. In our tiny library, with no extra space for shelving or bookcases, a new rolling book cart is essential! I can put the shelf totes for various genres on it, and rotate the cart for easy access. The totes are color coded making it easy to find the various genres. This cart is great for kids with various disabilities who aren't able to use step stools to find books on the shelves. We also have small P-K kids who are short! This will also support staff looking for that special book in limited time. I have no funds for this and it is really imperative to have one.

Please help us get a safe, durable and attractive book cart that will display our books for student and staff for years and years!

A book cart is such an essential tool in a library and I have exhausted all other resources. Please help with any size donation. Thanks!!!
