My Students

Ray Charles said "Music to me is like breathing-I don't get tired of breathing, I don't get tired of music.

My students are hard workers and never give up!

Practice makes better, not perfect.

My students do not just want to look at Orchestral instrument, they want to learn how to play them. Students do not usually learn how to play until they get to middle school, but I know my students are willing and would love to learn these skills before they enter middle school.

Fourth grade students would also get the opportunity to feel and look at these instruments up close and personal before they attend a concert, performed by the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra.

My Project

All of our students want to learn to play an Orchestral instrument. Our classes cannot learn how to play these instruments because we do not have any. In class the clarinet, flute, saxophone, and trumpet will provide the opportunity for the kids to play in the classroom comfortably, a few at a time. This helps them with the basic idea of proper posture, reading music on the staff and it also helps to build the self-esteem that they need to continue learning. As they progress, they will be able to do team and independent work to build musicianship and to be able to practice socialization. We will be able to use them when we perform and learn about the Symphony Orchestra. The drum sets will play many roles in the program for the students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to play different instruments during class and help boost students confidence. This will enhance the environment not only in the classroom, but on the concert stage as well.

The instruments will play many roles in the program for the students.

The first and foremost is to give all students a chance to play different instruments in class. They will learn proper technique and be able to help each other, while learning how to read music written on the staff. This will enhance the environment not only in the classroom but while preparing for middle school and for students learning about the symphony orchestra.
