This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third graders are very happy to be back in the classroom. We are a proud Spanish bilingual group that just love a good story. They finished second grade on the computers at home doing distance learning. We did a lot of reading online but now we can see and talk to each other in person and put our hands on old fashion paper books.

My students enjoy being in the classroom and working and reading together.

We like to solve math problem, read stories, write and have discussions about many different topics.

My students are a highly motivated group of kids, mostly from immigrant families that are passionate and curious about the world around them.

My Project

My class and I are very excited to read our next novels together. Every day each student will open their individual copy of Las Aventuras Desperaux and then when we finish it we will read Gracias a Winn-Dixie. I will read aloud as the children follow along in their personal copy.

When reading together we will make predictions and inferences about the plot and characters.

We will discuss character traits. We will look for and discuss the author's message, as well as the author's craft. We will enjoy the pleasure of reading together.Students that have a copy of the read aloud book are able to access material above their independent reading level with confidence.

Reading a chapter book as a whole class will create a shared and enjoyable experience.
