Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom are active learners. They are very independent workers. Most come from lower economic homes in San Jose, CA, and have very few resources at their disposal. I also have a lot of students who are bilingual, and English is their second language.

Students in my classroom are thinkers and problem solvers.

They dive into all areas of the curriculum and read about it, explore it, question it, and develop a good understanding of the subject or topic we are learning about. We are in an open pod school pod with 3 other classes.

My Project

My students love to read graphic novels. The problem I am having in my classroom is that do not have very many and my students are always wanting to read them and have to wait for their chance to check out the book. Currently, my school's library is not open due to Covid and not having a library tech so my students are dependant on my classroom library. I want my students to read as much as they can. Graphic novels are a way to get my students to read in and out of the classroom.

I am looking for someone to help me add more graphic novels to my class library so that my students have books they want to read.

The students love Dork Diaries, Dogman, Captain Underpants, Diary of the Wimpy Kid, and other graphic novel series. If you are able to help me add move of these books to my class library I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
