This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let's face it bullying is a reality in every school. A recent study states that seventy-seven percent of all students in grades K-12 have been bullied at some point in their lives. The best way to combat this problem is by educating students on how to appropriately react in different situations.

My students live in South Central Los Angeles.

They live in an impoverished neighborhood surrounded with violence and gangs. Many come from foster homes or single parent households. They attend a Title I school and all qualify for free or reduced lunch. Although, many come from homes where their resources are limited, they come to school everyday with a desire to learn. My students have a tremendous love for learning and always try their best.

My Project

I am requesting 1 copy of "Bullying in Schools" and a collection of other anti-bullying literature. These books will be used to prevent and stop bullying through read alouds and discussions. The tag board, butcher paper, crayons, and self-inking teacher stamps will be used to keep my students engaged in activities during and after discussions. My students will also create anti-bullying posters and flyers with the butcher paper, sentence strips, and crayons. The laminating machine will be used to laminate and protect the students' posters and flyers. My students will display their anti-bullying posters in our classroom and around school.

The best way to prevent and combat bullying is to equip our students with the appropriate strategies to use when faced with this problem.

By working together, my students and I can create a safe and nurturing learning environment that is free of bullies in and outside our classroom. Please help my students by providing them with the right tools and skills needed to stop bullying at school. Together we can create a peaceful learning environment in all schools.
