My Project

I would like to give my students a dramatic play market stand that can be used to promote play-based learning in my first-grade classroom.

This play stand will be used for pretend dramatic play while incorporating handwriting, math, and social skills!

I play to change the market each month to fit the units we are learning. For example, unit 2 in our literacy curriculum focuses on food and farmers' markets. During that unit, the stand will be turned into a farmers' market where students can buy pretend fruits and vegetables and make grocery lists to go shopping with. In unit 4, we focus on community helpers, so the stand would be turned into a doctor's office where students can practice being a doctor, give eye exams, pretend to sit in a waiting room, fill out pretend paperwork, etc.

This stand will allow me to incorporate money, handwriting, and imaginative play while still focusing on standards.
