My Students

My students are eager, energetic, and scholarly. The school is located adjacent to a nature park and wetlands and across the highway from the coast. Enjoying the outdoors is part of their lives. My school is a STEM school so we have a rigorous academic program. My students are highly involved in extra curricular activities ranging from sports teams to scouts to music and art lessons.

My students need more time to be involved in active learning opportunities to maintain engagement.

Their attention spans are quite short. Therefore it is important for them to have physical activity to prepare them mentally for demanding activities. However, they get frustrated in games where they have to wait so long for a turn. They get antsy or bored if the activity is not their preferred game. Therefore, I'm requesting a variety of equipment so everyone will have a choice.

My Project

My students are full of energy and always searching for opportunities for fun. It is difficult to access PE equipment at our school as well as it is challenging to have enough supplies to engage all students. My students often gripe about wanting more variety in PE activities, but the lack of supplies really limits the choices. I asked them what kinds of supplies they would like. They suggested so many different ideas that really reflects the diversity of their interests.

In requesting these jump ropes, activity mats, footballs, hula hoops, cones, soccer balls, kickballs and handballs I look forward to being able to provide a plethora of activity centers and choices for my students when we have PE time.

This will allow for students to choose an activity that they enjoy while still getting in valuable physical fitness time.
