My Students

"Let's play dress up!" That is what I hear my students say all the time. It is one of their favorite things to do. It is always an area in our classroom that is the most popular. Unfortunately, the students have to dig through small tubs to find the different outfits and matching accessories.

My school is located in a low economic area in the San Fernando Valley.

My students come from loving homes, but they do not have a lot of the resources that we take for granted every day. These students don't get a lot of opportunities to play dress up with realistic looking props and accessories like we have in our class. They love pretending to be a mailman or a fire fighter. It is amazing to watch them play in this area. Their personalities really shine. It is such a wonderful resource for their learning experience. They get to practice their social and language skills with each other.

My Project

The space savers and dress up tree that I have requested, will help me organize all of the clothes, hats, and accessories that I have inherited in my classroom. These dress up clothes were left by the teacher who was in my class before me. With the space saver, I could hang up all of the clothes and their matching hats so that the students could just walk up and choose who they want to be for the play time. They won't have to dig through tubs and maybe find the entire outfit of their choice. They will have the confidence that they will be able to find everything they need easily.

The difference will be that my students won't feel overwhelmed by tubs full of clothes.

The space saver and dress up tree will ensure that the clothes will stay organized for their pretend pleasure! I organize the dress up area every afternoon at the end of the day and by the middle of the next day it looks like it has been hit by a tornado. Please help us keep our dress up area organized and tidy so that we can have more fun playing and less time searching through these tubs!
