Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are eager to explore the world through science. They tackle challenging questions by using their creativity and imagination and by participating in experiments and scientific activities. The hands-on approach pushes their thinking and allows them to think beyond what can be read and written; they surely love learning through experiences. They take on new challenges every time they come into the classroom, but they don't always have the best resources to aid them.

This doesn't stop them, however.

Each individual brings their unique personalities, interests, and strengths to the class to make learning possible. They are full of energy, ideas, and are very interested in learning but the right resources may just make their experience more meaningful. During class, students use these diversities to engage in great conversations and lead to new ideas and deeper understanding. Thank you - 6th grade students of PS/MS 95.

My Project

School is stressful. As an adult, I would have a hard time, going from class to class without feeling overwhelmed and stressed from an overload of information. My student's take art, French, P.E., reading, writing, math, social studies, and science, and the only true time where they can de-stress is during recess.

But sometimes, the weather isn't suitable for outside play so they have to sit in an auditorium and watch a movie in silence.

Instead, playing board games is a way for students to unwind while having fun. As a teacher, I will use the board games as a way to create a stress free environment and also as an incentive for students who work hard and persevere.
